We are looking a UX Designer to be part of a brand new team, working for one of the Cognizant’s Companies, which is building their capabilities in Madrid.

The Senior User Experience Designer must display expert-level skill and experience conceptualizing and designing engaging user experiences. The ideal candidate will thrive in a work environment that requires strong problem-solving skills and independent self-direction, coupled with an aptitude for team collaboration and open communication.

This individual excels at providing both highly analytical as well as highly creative ideas to a design engagement. A thorough understanding of contemporary user-centered design methodologies is a must.

The qualified candidate will have experience leading cross-disciplinary teams through a user-centered design process. This individual should be able to present experience design concepts, provide sound reasoning and explanation for design decisions supported by industry research and best practices. The Senior User Experience design should listen attentively and work with partners to understand project goals and deliver exceptional user experiences that exceed user and business needs.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate on user experience planning with UX Design Lead, Strategists and Creative/Art Directors to create functional, emotive and accessible digital experiences.
  • Understand user experience and user centered design best practices and apply those practices to achieve user goals.
  • Understand and provide input into business goals. Deliver solutions that balance business goals and user needs to provide unique and engaging experiences.
  • Create elegant information design solutions and supporting documentation including:
  • Usability testing reports
  • Heuristic Evaluations
  • Best practices recommendations
  • Experience Concepts
  • Sitemaps and user flow diagrams
  • User stories
  • Wireframes
  • Rich Interactive Prototypes
  • Contribute to user experience research and support Lead UX Designer in developing documentation including:
  • Usability testing plans including scripts, surveys and other required documentation
  • User interview scripts and documentation
  • Usability testing reports
  • User experience recommendations
  • Research and stay abreast of user experience, user-centered design, and interaction design trends across platforms.
  • Share new research, industry trends and insights with key Cadient team members.
  • Advocate for the user, to internal and external clients, at all points in the design process.

Minimum Required Experience and Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of user experience design experience for software and web applications that leverage emergent technologies, consumer electronics and/or mobile devices.
  • 2+ years of design experience for iOS, Android and Windows devices.
  • Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related field or equivalent work experience in User Experience, Information Architecture or Interaction Design.
  • Fluent in creating information architecture documentation including sitemaps, user flow diagrams, wireframes, and prototypes.
  • Expert-level understanding of user interface design patterns and standard UCD methodologies.
  • Experience conducting and facilitating user research in a laboratory setting as well as remote or online testing.
  • Advanced working knowledge of UX/IA, and other software including Omnigraffle, Mac OS X, Word, and Excel.
  • Applied facilitation, brainstorming and collaboration exercise skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail in all internal and client-facing documentation.
  • Understanding of common software development practices.

Valuable additional skills and experience

  • Drawing/Sketching and white boarding skills.
  • Experience with other UX/IA software such as Visio, Axure, and other relevant software.
  • Knowledge of customer experience design beyond the digital realm including, but not limited to, tradeshow and retail experience design.
  • Understanding of common software project management practices.


  • Master’s degree in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design or related field or equivalent work experience in User Experience, Information Architecture or Interaction Design.
